Petition Action

abandon forced migration from anolgue to digital radio

Additional Information

Abandon the forced migration from FM to DAB radio
Responsible department: Department for Culture, Media and Sport

The government must abandon and cancel for ever the plan to the switch-off anolgue radio.

The BBC estimates that the average household has 6 radio sets, plus ALL vehicles and many other locations, and so the cost of replacing them with DAB radios is unaffordable for the vast majoirty. It is not necessary and would be a criminal waste of good existing radios. DAB is of a lower quality than current FM, and it often sounds like the studio is under water, with gurgling and bubbling !!

While the government looks set to gain £billions of VAT from the sale of DAB replacement radios, and the sale of frequencies released, the radio listeners cannot afford it. Of course, our planet cannot afford this wastage either.
