After the Scottish referendum result, should the voting age be reduced to the age of 16 in the UK?

Additional Information

After the result of the Scottish independence referendum which was open to citizens of the age of 16, should the franchise be opened to 16 year olds in the UK? It can be argued that there is a political participation deficit and this proposal could be big step in renewing it.
