On March 19th, 2014, the government announced a new new pound coin, to be introduced in 2017.

The queens head will be on the front, but there are no plans for the reverse

Alan Turning was one of Britain's greatest mathematicians who worked on the Enigma machine and was highly influential in the development of computer science.

Turing committed suicide in 1954 after being prosecuted for homosexuality and chemically castrated.

On 24 December 2013, the Queen signed a pardon for Turing's conviction for gross indecency,

The petition is to ask the Royal Mint to put Alan Turing on the reverse of the new pound coin as final mark of respect
