Petition Action

Allow the reigning monarch the right to free speech.

Petition Details

The British people have the fundamental right to free speech.
We believe the monarch should enjoy the same freedom as her/his subjects, especially on domestic and international issues.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can't accept your petition because it does not call for a clear action from the UK Government and Parliament on something that's within their power. Monarchs already have the right to free speech. It is, however, convention that they do not let their personal views be known publicly.
