Petition Action

Amend the Faith Communities Forum to admit non religious representatives

Additional Information

We the undersigned petition the Welsh Government to amend the title of their “Faith Communities Forum” to “Belief & Faith Communities Forum” and to allow representatives from the majority non-religious communities in Wales, such as Humanists, to sit on the forum.

Currently religious community groups, enjoy an exclusive platform within the government of Wales to officially air their views on matters of economic, social and cultural life in Wales, having the direct attention of the First Minister, Secretary of State for Wales and representatives of political parties.

We, the non-religious also have equally strongly held beliefs on matters of economic, social and cultural life in Wales. If the Welsh Government is serious about promoting “equality and inclusive outcomes for all the citizens of Wales” then it must also officially listen to the views of the non-religious communities by amending its forum as stated above.
