Apply to rejoin EFTA & retain EEA membership as objective of Art 50 negotiations

Petition Details

We call on HMG to aim for a practical workable realistic outcome in negotiations with the EU. To that end, rejoining EFTA & remaining in the EEA is the only sensible initial route. Any other approach will waste time, to the detriment of us all.

Additional Information

INDEPENDENCE: outside EU Common policies on Agriculture, Fisheries, VAT, Foreign, Defence, Trade & European Court of Justice;
INFLUENCE: Not bound by EU common position on international bodies (eg-WTO) & have an independent voice at a global regulatory level;
CONTINUITY: access to single market, market for financial services & freedom to work & live in EEA states;
SIMPLICITY: The UK is already a signatory to the EEA;
FLEXIBILITY: implement immigration controls (as per Lichtenstein, EFTA member)
