Petition Action

Ban the use of the description "honourable" when making reference to an MP.

Petition Details

I fail to conceive that any current Member of Parliament could possibly be considered to be "honourable". "Despicable" maybe. Maybe they should say "I thank my despicable friend" or "my very despicable friend". Career politicians are a total blight on this Country.

Additional Information

0.7% of British people are millionaires. 78% of politicians are millionaires.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

If you would like the House of Commons to change its practice, so that MPs no longer refer to each other using the terms "honourable" or "right honourable", we could accept a petition calling for that.

We can also find no evidence for the statement that 78% of politicians are millionaires. We can't accept petitions which contain statements that are false.
