Petition Action

Block the FA's sale of Wembley Stadium

Petition Details

On Thursday 26 April 2018, the Football Association confirmed it had received a bid from Shahid Khan of around £600M for the sale of Wembley Stadium.

Shahid Khan is the owner of the NFL side, Jacksonville Jaguars. If the sale goes through, the stadium will become home to the NFL side.

Additional Information

Mr Khan has reportedly already agreed an outline agreement with the FA Chief Executive, Martin Glenn for the sale of the stadium.

It has been suggested that the money from the sale would be reinvested into grassroots football. But whether this would be true is another matter.

A reminder that the stadium has been paid for by the Taxpayer.

Mr Khan plans to have the sale sewn up in August so we need to act fast to block the sale of the home of English football.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Any decision about selling Wembley Stadium is the responsibility of the Football Association, not the UK Government or Parliament.

You could contact the FA directly about this issue:
http://www.thefa.com/about-football-association/contact-us

You could start a new petition to ask the UK Government to urge the FA not to sell Wembley Stadium.
