Petition Details

The whole country understand Boxing Day is the 2nd day of the Christmas holidays, the day after Christmas Day. Time used to visit family. Business use bank holiday rules to shift it to a day of their choice & force people to work. The country take it on the 26th, those forced to work, do another day

Additional Information

Example.

Christmas Day is Sunday 25 Dec 16, & Boxing Day Monday 26 Dec 16 (the day after).

Monday & Tuesday are classed as special days and business use laws for bank holidays to force people to work despite it being part of the Christmas holiday based on business needs

However, demand for staff on bank holidays is much reduced and handfuls of staff are expected to work. As a result while maybe 80% are enjoying bank holiday on 26 as normal, 20% miss family as Boxing Days classed differently

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action. You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
