Bring back National Service
Mandatory National Service in the armed forces for 2 years should be introduced for anybody (male and female) between the ages of 16 and 20 who is not:
* serving an apprenticeship
* studying A-Levels
* studying a degree course at University
and for anyone between the ages of 20 and 25 who has not already served in the armed forces, and who has been out of work for 6 months or longer.
This would provide young people with useful life skills, discipline, and respect for authority - and would start to undo the erosion of society which has led to the London riots.
