British Sign Language Should be taught in Primary and Secondary schools in UK.

Petition Details

Children who are deaf should have the choice of which school they want to go to, but the problem with this is integrating with other children cause BSL (British Sign Language) is not part of the National Curriculum.

Additional Information

Approximately 1 in every 1000 children is born with a severe or profound hearing loss. 90% of all deaf children are born to hearing parents. Approximately 50,000 deaf people in the UK use British Sign Language (BSL) as their first or preferred language.

Deaf children in the UK aged 0 to 15 is at 23000 so it shows that BSL should be in the National Curriculum so our children can integrate with the deaf community and BSL would be a language they would use lots off time in there life.
