British Sign Language to be part of the school curriculum

Petition Details

About 9 million people in Britain are classed as deaf or hard of hearing. 23,000 of these are children, up to the age of 15 years old. Only 50,000 deaf people class "British Sign Language as their first language.
British Sign Language should be part of our School curriculum, as a second language.

Additional Information

These people have a disability, but that doesn't mean they are disabled. They are merely people with different abilities.

Learning another language can open up new doors for those who choose to learn. It can also change the lives not only for the student, but for the millions hidden away, unable to communicate with the majority of the hearing.

We should make this choice for those who wish to learn and help make a difference.
