Call a constitutional convention to resolve longstanding questions

Petition Details

Should we retain an unelected House of Lords? What is the place of England in the United Kingdom after devolution to Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland? How can power be devolved to cities and other parts of the constituent countries? Questions like this have been hanging over us for many years.

Additional Information

A draft law, written after a lot of work during the 2010-2015 parliament, has been presented to both houses of parliament. The government should support the passing of this law and ensure that the convention is able to meet and present its recommendations during 2016.

It is important that the way this country governs itself should not be decided without consulting the opinions of as many of the British people as possible.
