Petition Action

Cancel the Extra Bank Holiday in 2012

Additional Information

In light of the dire predictions for the UK economy that follow the news that two million public sector workers will be striking this November, it seems ludicrous that we are arranging for an additional day's holiday in 2012 to celebrate the Queen's jubilee.

Her Majesty would not wish her loyal subjects to lose their jobs and in celebrating her birthday damage the economic foundations of her country. I think she would understand that we cannot possibly celebrate her jubilee with a bank holiday, and instead need to ensure a constant rate of production within the workforce.

I would like to see the government debating the worth of a day off to celebrate Her Majesty which will undoubtedly cause untold economic carnage.
