Carers Allowance should not stop for the Carer when the child they are caring for is admitted to hospital

Additional Information

Currently If the child under the age of 16 you look after goes into hospital their carer will stop receiving carers allowance after 12 weeks of admissions.

At this time when their child/young child they are caring for is admitted to hospital the caring becomes more intense and the carer incurs more expense They have the added living expenses of having to buy their meals, travel and parking.

Their outgoings increase whilst their financial support from the government decreases at their most stressful time.

This needs to change, the carer/parent will still care for their child/young person when they are admitted to hospital.
