Employ Counsellors in Secondary Schools in England

Additional Information

The government should adopt the same policy of the Welsh Government and give school children access to qualified counsellors. This will provide emotional support for adololescents and reduce the dangers associated with self-harm(1 in 15 kids self-harm), depression, drug misuse, low trait emotional intelligence and low self-esteem. This will reduce incidence and on-costs of mental health issues, suicides (a self-harmer is 100 times more likely to commit suicide than a non-self-harmer) drug/alcohol abuse, self-harm and A &E in the NHS.
