End the practice of MP's an Lord's Claiming self portraits on expenses

Petition Details

MP's and Lord's are squandering tax payers money on portraits of themselves at upwards of £12,000, its an absolutely disgraceful waste of valuable public money. If they want a portrait of themselves for their own ego them they should pay! its a total disgrace

Additional Information

several prominent politicians like Diane Abbott and Baroness D'Souza seemingly have no shame in spending thousands on portraits and bemoaning cuts in public services

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

MPs are not able to claim for portraits from their Parliamentary expenses. Additions to the Parliamentary Art Collection are agreed to by the Speaker's Advisory Committee on Works of Art. The artworks are paid for by an acquisition budget funded by the House of Commons. Further information on the Committee and the Art Collection can be found here:

You could start a new petition on the Works of Art Committee and its budget.
