Petition Action

Extend the EU referendum voting rules to include 16 & 17 year olds.

Petition Details

We the undersigned call upon HM Government to implement changes to allow 16 and 17 year olds to vote in a referendum that affects the rest of their lives.

Additional Information

If decisions on marriage and enlistment to the army may be made at 16 years, then we believe that 16-year-olds should be allowed to take part in democratic procedure - particularly when the issues have far-reaching implications. Unlike general elections, national referendums are one-off votes: young people must be allowed to have a say in issues which will shape their future. Please sign and pass on. We need 100,000 signatures to affect change.
