Petition Details

Free fruit should be given out to children in schools to help promote healthier lifestyle to combate vast illness.Like obesity,dieabetes and other chronic illness.This would help take some pressure off the NHS ,improve people general health and well-being and mental health!

Additional Information

(NCMP) 2014/15, show that 19.1% of children in Year 6 (aged 10-11) were obese and a further 14.2% were overweight. Of children in Reception (aged 4-5), 9.1% were obese and another 12.8% were overweight. This means a third of 10-11 year olds and over a fifth of 4-5 year olds were overweight or obese.

Estimated of (those costs arising from the impact of obesity on the wider economy such as loss of productivity) over the same time period ranged between £2.6 billion [1] and £15.8 billion.[2]
