Free Parking in City Centres at Weekends

Additional Information

Responsible department: Office of the Leader of the House of Commons

We, the undersigned, urge the Government to enforce Free Parking during business hours on Saturdays and Sundays in all Town Centres.

The town centre is in decline according to reports and excuses for this are prevelent and mostly incorrect.

Excessive parking fees by local councils and by multi story parking owners are the sole reason for shops going out of business. Why pay at least £5 for 2 hours when you can park for free at out of town complexes? That money serves a better purpose for the economy in the hands of a shop keeper.

Free Parking at weekends may give our town centres a fighting chance!
