Petition Action

Fund the provision of support dogs for assault or abuse survivors with PTSD.

Petition Details

The government could fund and support charities to be able to specifically help the availability of these dogs for sexual assault or domestic violence survivors instead the charities allowing only war veterans to obtain a emotional support dog in the UK.

Additional Information

Studies have shown that 20 percent of soldiers come home for war with PTSD however they've also shown that out of all sexual assault, rape or domestic violence survivors that 30 percent have PTSD. Studies have also proved that 82 percent of people (in the USA) with an emotional support dog had a reduction in symptoms like anxiety attacks and nightmares than before and 40 percent reported that they reduced their use of medication. The impacts of these dogs is astronomical to someone's daily life.
