There is inequality in pay between men and women in the UK women are likely to earn £300,000 less than men over their working lives. Up to 30,000 women are sacked each year simply for being pregnant and each year an estimated 440,000 women lose out on pay or promotion as a result of pregnancy.

Additional Information

Cuts to public sector jobs affect women disproportionately because women make up two thirds of the workforce.

Only 1 in 4 MPs is a woman and women from minority ethnic groups make up only 1.2% of MPs yet comprise 4% of the UK population.

Just 34.7% of senior civil servants are women.

Approximately 70% of people in national minimum wage jobs are women.

Violence against women and girls is a global issue with 1 in 3 women across the world experiencing violence.
