Government build more new affordable council housing to stop ever higher rents.
More & more people are having to rent privately & rents are far to high for most people & taxpayers money is going to private landlords who keep their housing benefit tenants in slum-like conditions. This must stop. If there was more council housing rents would come down.
One million homes in the private rented sector fail to meet basic standards of safety, warmth and repair, a report reveals.
Billions of pounds of taxpayers' money is being spent on housing benefit for rent given to private landlords who fail to keep the properties in good condition. The money would be better spent on build new council housing.
