Grant Julian Assange Safe Passage Through UK Territory And Political Asylum In Ecuador.
We, the signatories of this petition, believe that; the persecution of Julian Assange is a political rather than a judicial matter.
As a whistleblower, and promoter of the freedom of information, Assange, and others like him, should be offered protection against political persecution.
Should the UK government fail to grant Assange protection; he faces probable extradition to the US and subsequent human rights abuses, such as those inflicted upon Bradley Manning.
The failure to prevent any continuing political persecution of Assange would be a symbolic failure to protect the very notion of human rights and dignity.
The failure to protect those who are denied freedom from persecution is the real miscarriage of justice.
