Introduce compulsory voting for UK citizen

Petition Details

With the recent EU referendum being almost 50/50, people's dissatisfaction is self evident particularly amongst younger voters. Sadly statistics suggest only 36% of young voters (18-24) and just over half (58%) of 25-34 year olds actually went to the polls.

2015 general election figure - 43% for the 18-24 age group. For 25-34s, it was 54%.
(The Guardian)

Australia has compulsory voting and as such has one of the highest electoral turnouts in the world. The U.K government should reflect the will of the people, not the few or the older generations who vote in greater numbers!
