Petition Action

Introduce mental health training in the workplace.

Petition Details

Many workplaces have mandatory first aid- so why isn't mental health training? We call on the government to introduce mental health training into the workplace, especially those that involve working with the public such as police.

Additional Information

1 in 4 people suffer from mental illness each year.
Suicide is the biggest killer in men between 20 and 49.
BAME are at higher risk of developing mental health issues.
Mixed anxiety and depression is the most common, at 7.8 in 100 people.
Mental health can lead to physical problems, suffering job performance, substance abuse, homelessness and more.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Training in the workplace is the responsibility of individual employers, not the UK Parliament or Government.

You could start a new petition asking for something that the Government and Parliament are responsible for. For example, you could ask the Government to fund an mental health awareness campaign.
