Introduce Politics as a compulsory subject into the secondary school curriculum.

Petition Details

Martin Luther King said that "nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity." He was right, and today he would be saddened to see the ignorance that is embedded in our democracy and exploited by the political elite.

Education is the only answer.

Additional Information

The EU referendum highlighted the political apathy of young people as only 36% of 18-25 year olds turned out to vote. As it is this generation that will deal with the full force of Brexit, it is very troubling that the majority chose not to take part in this historic decision. Blame us if you like, but the responsibility to educate lies with the government. To safeguard the future of our democracy, the study of international institutions, ideologies and economies needs to be made compulsory.
