Introduce presumed consent for organ donation for whole of the UK

Petition Details

Presumed consent has already provided life-saving organs for dozens of people in Wales since December. Now it should be rolled out across the whole of the UK.

Additional Information

In December 2015, Wales introduced a scheme under which people are presumed to consent to donate their organs when they die - unless they specifically opt out. This change has already resulted in 60 organs being given to those in desperate need.

The Department of Health currently has no plans to widen this scheme to the rest of the UK, even though it could potentially save hundreds of lives. We believe that they should.
