Petition Action

Job Seekers allowance to be capped at one year, all persons claiming this benifit should be doing voluntary work to qualify.

Additional Information

Petitioners agree that job seekers allowance should not be a long term benefit and should be given up to one year only. The benefit should not simply be handed out but awarded to those doing volutary work such as charitable or public service work while thery search for an appropriate job. After the period of one year any jobs available that a job seeker is qualified to do should be allocated to them without the choice of staying on the benefit.
