Job seekers to support the Public Service

Additional Information

The challenge we have today around a large unemployed workforce is not only the cost financially but the endemic generational cost at the individual level.

My proposal is that the Government set up work projects that's put Job Seekers (who are being paid by the Tax payer today) to work on social improvement schemes, Infrastructure projects, clean ups, park maintenance and any other suitable roles that would add value to UK Plc while also adding skills and motivation to the individual.

At a time when public purses are at an all time low we need to leverage this existing, able workforce.
As a Learning & Development professional I see every day the impact on peoples motivation and skills when they are trained and put to work with an achievement as the result, Their self esteem increases, as does their skill-set and desire to work creating the positive effect of wanting to work and having the skills to do it.
