Petition Action

Make breaking election promises a criminal offense under the Fraud Act (2006).

Petition Details

We, the undersigned, ask Parliament to amend the Fraud Act (2006) to include willfully and knowingly lying during an election campaign. This would make breaking election promises a criminal offense.

Additional Information

No change to tax credits, tackling child poverty, environmental protection, no rise in VAT. All promises made as an election platform over the last decade. All broken. The mandate of ruling this nation was given to the political parties in charge based on policy promises. The practice of gaining office and then actively backtracking or breaking these promises must not continue. We, the undersigned, ask Parliament to amend the Fraud Act (2006) to include breaking election promises.
