Make contents insurance mandatory for all council tenants
We live in a semi detached house which we own. This is an ex council house. The house that we are attached to is still owned by the Council.
As we have a morgage we have to take out building and contents insurance.
But if you are a council Tennant you don't have to have insurance of any kind
The house next door had a very sevier fire and we have been out of our house for a long time
Our insurance covered us for our damage but as there is not any insurance with the next door property our insurance premium will go up
I was not aware that insurance is optional if you are a council tenant and even though none of this is our fault we are the ones left paying the price
Thing's need to change and I don't think it's too much to ask a council tenant to take responsibility for themselves
