Make Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF) Optional
Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF) need to be compulsory on newer registered Vehicles.
The cost of having a DPF replaced due to Failure is £600+.
Removal of the Filter is an Instant fail on MOT Testing.
The Government should give the option to have this Filter Removed, but at an Increased price in Road Fund Tax.
An MOT Tester would then Check if the Filter is in place during test, and check against the current Road Tax on the Vehicle, failing if it does not match up.
