Petition Action

Make it a criminal offence for politicians to renege on election promises.

Petition Details

It is a crime to lie to HMRC.
It is a crime to lie/perjure yourself in court.
It SHOULD be made a crime for the government to lie to the public / mislead them on election promises.

A vote of no confidence or criminal prosecution should be raised as this is tantamount to fraud.

Additional Information

It should no longer be allowed, as in the case of tuition fees by Nick Clegg and Tax Credit cuts by D.Cameron, for politicians or political parties to renege on election promises.

Politicians should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law if the policies they attempt to introduce contradict election promises.

A vote of no confidence or criminal prosecution should be applied in all cases of the public being misled/lied to..

A politician must state clearly what their polices are.
