Mandatory Mental Health First Aid Training for Children's/Youth Workers

Petition Details

Compulsory Mental Health First Aid Training for Children's/Youth workers will ensure that leaders know what to do if a young person is experiencing a mental health crisis. By recognising the signs early and knowing what to do in each circumstance, leaders can create greater safety for young people.

Additional Information

If a young person grazes their knee, or breaks their ankle while on a residential, noticing the symptoms and treating the problem can be simple for a first aider. If a mental health crisis occurs, the issue may be troublesome to overcome if a leader is not trained in mental health first aid. 1 in 10 young people experience a mental health issue at a given time (https://mhfaengland.org/individuals/youth/) yet the subject is still stigmatised and brushed under the carpet. https://mhfaengland.org/
