minimum sentence for paedophiles

I am saddened on a daily basis to hear reports of child sex offenders being given far too lenient sentences...many of them being less than 12 months...where is the deterrent and justice in that??

I, and many other people, would like to see a minimum custodial sentence of at LEAST 5 years for ANY sexual offence toward children...rising to 10 years for for repeat offenders.
