Petition Action

monitor and remove any sexualised, abusive and bullying content from platforms online

Additional Information

sites such as ask.fm are only one of the few anonymous sites where users can post hurtful and cruel messages about one another. Recently there has been an increase in cyber bullying and only in August did a young teenage girl kill herself due to the increase in hurtful messages she received from the site. If the government made it a rule to make sure sites checked what was written before it was posted and if it did fall under the category of sexual, abusive or bullying words ,then remove it. A lot less hate mail can be spread as a result and therefore lead to a decrease in cyber bullying.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.

You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.

There is already an e-petition concerning Ask.FM, and a reply should be posted shortly. The Government is aware of this, and is in contact with regulators about it.
