Petition Action

Outlaw parliament blocking the triggering of article 50.

Petition Details

Over 17 million British people voted to leave the EU, despite lies, suspected fraud and wasted taxpayers money from the remain camp, LEAVE STILL WON. Less than 650 MP's have no right to ignore our will and spit in the face of democracy! Britain is already proving project fear wrong!

Additional Information

Businesses wish to continue trading, New countries are lining up to agree new trade deals, markets are bouncing back and sterling is recovering. The future is bright and should not legally be permitted for it to be stolen from this great country and the people within it.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Because Parliament is the only body in the UK which has the power to make laws, and it can also unmake any law, it is not constitutionally possible for Parliament to "outlaw" itself doing something. You could sign this petition instead, which calls for Parliament to invoke Article 50 (i.e. start the process for leaving the EU) immediately:
