Petition Action

Please impose a ban on Michael Hammond being allowed to keep horses

Additional Information

On 15th August 2013 at Cambridge Magistrates Court, self titled 'Assistant Racehorse Trainer' Michael Hammond of Newmarket, was ordered to pay £1000 costs to world horse welfare and to complete 40 hours community service for causing unnecessary suffering to horses.
This man who by title dares to call himself a professional with horses was imposed no ban for keeping any animal, let alone horses.
This is to ask for his sentence to be looked at again and to include a ban from him being allowed to own or to be left in charge of any horse/pony.
He was visited on more than one occasion and only after a horse under his care had collapsed in a field, was days from dying and removed did he then do anything to rectify the appalling state that he had let these animals get into.

Please support in getting his sentence increased to include a ban so as to protect any other animal that has the unfortunate chance of being kept under his care

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Sentences that appear to be unduly lenient cannot be referred through the E-Petitions website. If you believe a sentence given in a Crown Court appears to be very low, or unduly lenient, anyone can contact the Attorney General's office asking for the sentence to be reviewed as long as it is within 28 days of sentencing.

It also only takes one person to make such a request. This office cannot review cases that were sentenced in a Magistrates Court. Full details on this scheme can be found on our website www.gov.uk/ago.
