Petition Action

Reconsider phased retirement age for women in their 50s ( I now have to work until I am 66 )

Additional Information

my pensionable age has risen from 60 to 66 overnight although I have worked since I was 15

these are the facts and I urge all women over 50 that this affects to sign this petition.
From April 2020, the state pension age will become 66 for both women and men. Some 5.1million people born between 1953 and 1960 will be affected.
Most women born before 1953 will still be able to retire no later than 62. But those born on or after April 6, 1953 will retire at 65.
And those with a birthday on or after April 6, 1954 will have to wait for the state pension until the age of 66.
