Petition Action

Reduce Foreign aid

Additional Information

Reduce foreign aid as in line with all public sector budget cuts. The money saved can asssit in reducing the budget cuts in the UK and help in off setting the recession. The government have announced this week that £1 billion will be paid by the British tax payer to combat climate change in Africa. Some of this money will go to South Africa, a country that has a healthy, growing economy. This money is in addition to :

£282.5 million in 2011 for climate change
£41 million for climate change in Ethiopia (2010)
£13.2 million to South Africa

In total, more than £2.9 billion will be paid in international aid during this parliament. surely this money would be better spent supporting the hard working people at home. After all, the say charity beings at home!
