Petition Action

Respect for Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

Additional Information

As a Muslim we respect all Prophets, religions and support religious harmony. If condemnable publication of Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's pictures is considered as a crime and banned in UK, we demand any medium of media e.g. Youtube to ban and remove hate provoking movie(s)/ clips about Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). UK Gov/ Ofcom must drive some law(s) so showing of any such material is considered a crime against faith, peace and harmony - and must be banned/ removed immediately.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

In the UK we support a self-regulatory model for the Internet and the vast majority of the UK ISP industry takes a responsible approach to what content it hosts. ISPs have contracts with their customers called good practice Acceptable Use Policies (AUPs), which they have recently strengthened, about what may be hosted on their servers.

Therefore, complaints about a particular website’s content should first be directed to the site’s manager. Most AUPs already contain a general clause which allows ISPs to remove sites or content which contain offensive or objectionable material, even if it is not illegal.
