Petition Action

reverse retirement age increase.

Petition Details

I believe it is discrimination to raise the peoples retirement age when there are certain high ranking people in Government who retire at a lower age. our pensions will barely cover living costs, what about peoples paid in contributions, then have passed on within 12 months before retirement.

Additional Information

60 year old Lord Robert Devereux who pushed through rises in the state pension age, is to retire at 61 with a retirement pot worth £1.8million. This to me is total discrimination,

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

A number of changes to the state pension age have been agreed by the UK Parliament. We're therefore not sure what you would like the state pension age to be for men and women.

Also, a new scheme for civil servant pensions was introduced on 1 April 2015. Under this scheme, civil servants will have a normal pension age which is linked to their state pension age.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
