Petition Action

School Term Time Leave - parents wanting to work in partnership with schools

Additional Information

Headteachers to use discretion to allow up to ten days discretionary leave in term time.

Discretion acknowledges that family time is important and allows an open and long term dialogue between headteachers and parents. Discretion is needed due to the complex reasons and circumstances that parents may find themselves in thus requiring leave in term time.

Should headteachers feel a need for a penalty for a parent taking persistent unreasonable leave, then this should be open and available.

WE WANT THE GOVERNMENT TO REVERT BACK TO THIS POLICY BEFORE THE NEXT GENERAL ELECTION.
