Petition Action

Scrap planned increase to use the Tyne tunnel

Petition Details

Car drivers will see the amount they have to pay jump by 10p, to £1.70, while the toll for HGVs will rise by 20p, to £3.40 which is ridiculous considering the A1 is not for purpose and is blighted by road works. I am calling on the government to scrap the planned increase and reduce the tunnel fees

Additional Information

Reducing the cost of the tunnel will benefit the local economy by encouraging more people to use the tunnel and it will even the traffic flow north of the Tyne.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

The tolls on the Tyne Tunnel are the responsibility of the North East Combined Authority, not the UK Government or Parliament.
