Standardise the minimum wage for under 21 year olds to give young people in the UK an incentive to better their own circumstances
In Britain it is better value to live off benefits than work for a living if you are under the age of 21. Is it any wonder that young people are taking to the streets if they can't earn a decent wage?
The minimum wage should be standardised for young people and raised to the national rate of £5.93/hr
More information on the current minimum wage in the UK:
£5.93 - the main rate for workers aged 21 and over
£4.92 - the 18-20 rate
£3.64 - the 16-17 rate for workers above school leaving age but under 18
£2.50 - the apprentice rate, for apprentices under 19 or 19 or over and in the first year of their apprenticeship
