Petition Action

Stop insurance companies from using credit score to boost premiums

Additional Information

Car insurance companies will use a credit report, they say to confirm that you are who you say you are. However they also use the information they gain to ascertain if you are a poor credit risk, this in turn boosts your insurance premium upwards. They say the infomation they gain is used to determine if you are a risk as a driver, how having poor credit can have any connection as to whether you are a poor driver is yet to be proven.
Insurance companies should only use a credit search in order to gain proof that you are who you say you are and nothing else.
