Strip Tony Blair of ex Prime Minister privileges for Iraq war lies to parliament

Petition Details

Chilcot has provided evidence to show that Tony Blair lied to parliament and got us into a war which resulted in our soldiers and hundereds of thousands of iraqis being killed. He is therefore to be held in contempt and stripped of all privileges granted to ex prime ministers.

Additional Information

According to the BBC 179 British army soldiers died in the Iraq war. 150000 innocent Iraqis died directly in the war with many hundreds of thousands injured and displaced as a result. The country has been split into sectarian warfare since. Many tens of thousands have died in the wars raging in Iraq, Syria and Yemen. The Origins of these can be traced to the Iraq War which opened old sectarian wounds.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can’t accept petitions calling for an inquiry into whether an MP has committed a contempt of the House of Commons. That’s because neither the House of Commons nor the Government is responsible for deciding that an inquiry that an inquiry of that kind should happen.
