Petition Action

views of people in England should be recognised with regard to the Scotland Act

Petition Details

By a margin of more than four to one, voters in England believe that levels of public spending in Scotland should be reduced to the UK average therefor the fiscal framework support of the the Barnett Formula principle within the new Scotland Act is against the will of the people of England

Additional Information

A study carried out by University of Cardiff ,shows that parts of the Smith Commission on the new Devolution of Scotland Act is directly against the majority of the will of the English population
The views of people in England contradict some of the key proposals for the future of Scotland put forward by the main pro-union parties. Funding Scotland via the Barnett formula appears inconsistent with public opinion in England. Scotland £10,327, compared to the UK average of £8,940.
