Petition Action

We want the government to clearly define our right to Freedom of Speech.

Petition Details

After mass censorship online the time has come for the government to clearly define what the boundaries surrounding freedom of speech are. For example, people are being silenced online for 'hate speech' when they are simply voicing opinions that differ from those of the website creators.

Additional Information

We are creating this petition for both the right to freedom of speech and our GCSE Citizenship coursework. However, we strongly agree with this cause and believe it is worth fighting for.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Freedom of expression is already guaranteed by Article 10 of the European Convention, which was adopted into UK law through the Human Rights Act 1998.
